About the Course – Alcohol and Drugs Work

If you want to specialize in helping people deal with their drug and alcohol issues, you are required to undertake Alcohol and Drugs Work. It will prepare you to enter the workforce in a community service role by providing you the skills to help clients who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol and facing several problems. This comprehensive certificate focuses on the two main areas of demand in the alcohol and other drugs sector: outreach work and community work. You can earn a career across a variety of community services settings such as mental health and youth work with the help of skills gained during your studies. This program will also provide you with a work placement so that you have real-life experience to ensure you are prepared for a job after graduation.

 One of the main goals of this course is to help students plan a career in a community service role that specializes in helping people deal with their drug and alcohol issues. This course will help you play a team leader or coordinator role, or work in specialist AOD services.

Career Prospect

This qualification requires supervision by qualified staff under a suitable counseling or community services environment. Work placement and a suitable environment will be provided to you in which you can be successful in the course. During your placement, and upskilled workplace assessor will visit you to observe you performing some of your assessment tasks. If you have sufficient work experience within the community services sector, this program is ideal for you. You will learn through a combination of workshops and field trips.
