REASONS FOR NOT STUDYING IN NEPAL
There are some universities like Tribhuvan University https://tribhuvan-university.edu.np/, Kathmandu University http://www.ku.edu.np/, Pokhara University https://pu.edu.np/, Purbanchal University http://www.purbuniv.edu.np/, here in Nepal which are offering similar programs like Master of Social Work, Master of Social Science, Master in Development Studies, Master of Arts in Sociology, Master of Arts in Economics and so on. But, most of the education providers of Nepal give priority to theoretical aspects rather than practical. It is a very good thing that literate population in increasing in Nepal but that only means there will be competition to get the limited seats offered by the limited education providers in Nepal.  Apart from this, by studying abroad, I will experience a brand-new country with incredible new outlooks, customs and activities. The benefits of studying abroad include the opportunity to see new terrains, natural wonders, museums and landmarks of your host nation. When I finish my study abroad program and return home, I will return with a new perspective on culture, language skills, a great education, and a willingness to learn. Needless to say, all of these are very attractive to future employers. Studying abroad really brings out an independent nature. Being in a new can be overwhelming at times, and it tests ability to adapt to diverse situations while being able to problem-solve. Studying abroad will experience a completely new way of teaching. I’ll gain a greater knowledge of different cultures. Above all the international experience and knowledge provided by studying abroad is likely to be looked on favorably by employers and Nepalese company value international graduates than of locals. Foreign graduates also get more salary than of local one.  Foreign graduates have a lot of practical knowledge and can accept challenges easily than of local. I am sure I will be respected and paid more in compare to local graduates.  I will have an opportunity to make friends with students around the world, learn their way of speaking cultures, customs and many more.

REASON FOR CHOOSING AUSTRALIA OVER OTHER COUNTRIES
Before choosing Australia as my education destination for higher studies, I did in-depth research for possible options including the options in my home country. After going through internet sites, gathered information through education agents and friends as well. I found out that Australia is the best option for me as it offers relevant and practical education. Australia is diverse in culture as people from all around the world dwell there having different religious practices. Australian constitution protects every individual’s right to freely practice their own religion which makes Australia a safe place for students from all over the world.

Universities in Australia offer a wide variety of courses and degrees. Australia’s education system has third most popular international student destination with seven of the top 100 universities of world rankings speaks highly of the government’s efforts to get students to study in Australia. This is the main reason for me to choose Australia my education destination. I am certain that Australia will never compromise on the quality of education. As a result, students are able to select the appropriate course for themselves that helps to enhance their skills. Unlike my home country, degrees obtained from Australian universities are recognized all over the world. Hence, students can get jobs all over the world with the respective degree obtained from Australian University. Besides this, another best part is that the Australian higher education system is federally regulated. It means the Australian government regulates all universities in the country each year to make sure they are maintaining their high education standards.

In comparison to the USA and UK, the cost of living and tuition costs are much lower. Because of this more number of international students is able to afford to stay and study in Australia. The Universities in the UK and USA are comparatively more costly than those in Australia.  There is no availability of the Tuition Protection System in UK. Moreover, applying to study in the USA requires more than just IELTS scores but also GRE and GMAT which is rather difficult and time-consuming. Also, the state of safety in the USA isn’t the most attractive for international students. The USA is a beautiful country but I don’t really like the weather conditions there with very cold snowy winters. Another country with snowy winters and much worse at that is Canada. Even though Master of Social Work in Canada is comparatively affordable, I couldn’t imagine living in such a cold climate.

Maximum universities in USA offer Graduate Pathway in Social work.  Such as; George Mason University USA (Graduate Pathway in Social Work, 2 Semester, Tuition fee USD$ 37, 900 a year), Madonna University USA (Graduate Certificate: Social Work 9 semester hours), Stephen F. Austin State University USA (Master of Social Work which is an online course, Tuition fee USD$ 15, 485). Universities in UK for Social work is of 2 years but MSc in Social work such as University of Bristol ( Social Work, MSC, 2 years,  tuition fee  £19, 200 per year), University of Sheffield ( MSC Social Work, 2 years tuition fee  £17, 600 a year). University of Brighton (Msc Social Work, 2 years, 13, 464.00 Also, The currency exchange rate of USA is also high as $1 is equivalent to NRS 115.01. The currency exchange rate GBP £1 is NRS 148.57, which is very high, has made is very costly. Australia, AUD $1 is NRS 78. 08.  Apart from being a great place to get a first-rate education, Australia is also a beautiful place to live. It facilitates multicultural society to the students as people from different countries are peacefully living in Australia. As Australian people have a reputation for being among the friendliest in the world, students can have a comfortable environment to live and study. At the same time, Australian cities are safe and clean with low crime rates.

Besides all English is the main language of communication so it would be beneficial and easy for me to learn and communicate during my study period. And also Australia possesses nice climatic condition which will be easier for me to adapt. It will help me unfold myself in a different environment with different people. The most attractive thing is that Australia provides practical and competitive education with relevant course content, innovative techniques of teaching and learning which is much more focused on practicality rather than theory. I think gaining practical knowledge would be the greatest asset in the life of a student. And most importantly, I found the Australian Education System a worthy one since Australia’s education and training system offers high-quality service and protection for international students studying in Australia through Education Service for Overseas Students Framework. The ESOS Act framework protects the rights of international students studying in Australia including the rights to receive accurate information about courses, fees, modes of study, location, support service, work permit and many other information about the institution required for students. Australia also protects the tuition fees of international students through Tuition Protection Services (TPS). TPS ensures that international students able to complete their studies in another course or with another education provider or they receive a refund of their unspent tuition fees.  There is also Post Study Work (PSW) facility in Australia.  Education is the best investment one student can make for his/her future and I would definitely want to invest in a place where my investment is secure

WHY UNIVERSITY NAME NOT OTHER UNIVERSITIES?
After making the decision to study in Australia, I browsed different internet sites to find out the Universities that meet my expectation about the academic quality, facilities and learning environment. MY FUTURE CAREER PLAN
After completing my course, I aim to return home, I will have the relevant theoretical and practical knowledge to take on meaningful roles in government agencies, non-government organizations and private firms. Being a social worker, I can also make use of my skills in various settings like hospitals, medical clinics, and nursing homes, community mental health agencies and substance misuse clinics, state and local governments including child welfare agencies and departments of health and human services, schools and other youth-serving organizations, correctional facilities and also private practices. I will be working on various respected positions like Youth Specialist, Clinical Social Worker, Child and Family Social Worker, Social and Human Service Assistant, Mental Health and Substance Abuse Social Worker, School Social Worker, Community Social Worker etc.

Nepal being a developing country has a lot of social issues, especially in the rural areas and there is still a lot of work to do. Social work is a never ending work which requires manpower, and if the manpower is qualified, there is so much to gain in this industry as much as there is to give. There are a lot of INGOs working for the betterment of Nepal and working in INGOs like United Nations, USAID, Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO), PHASE (Practical Help Achieving Self-Empowerment) Nepal, SNV Nepal, World Vision Nepal etc So, I believe my international degree can help me go where I have always wanted to go, which is to work in my own country and gain the respect of the people while living near my family. This will give me a sense of achievement which I think is very important to have in one’s life. These organizations pay the starting salary of Nrs amount to Nrs amount to the local graduates monthly. Having an international degree will be a plus point for me as these companies and organization would prefer to hire me with the salary of Nrs amount to Nrs amount per month which will increase along with my knowledge, experience and promotion. I hope to cover all the investments for 6 to 7 years.  The links where I can find jobs in Nepal are: https://nepalijob.com/job-category/ngoingosocial-work/, https://unjobs.org/duty_stations/nepal, http://www.ain.org.np/vacancy/.

Social Work is a young profession in Nepal. It is a Profession which helps people to overcome some of life’s most difficult challenges such as poverty, discrimination, abuse, addiction, physical illness, divorce, loss, unemployment, educational problems, disability and mental illness. They help prevent crises and counsel individuals, families, groups and communities to cope more effectively with the stresses and the problems of ever. Social Work is a developing profession in Nepal. Even though it is an internationally recognized profession it has not yet established itself as a Profession in Nepal. Efforts are being made to gain reorganization of social work as a profession in Nepal.

INCENTIVES TO RETURN HOME
After the completion of my studies, I plan to return back to Nepal. Back home, I have my family members who were very supportive during my initial days and I feel it’s my turn to return back the favour since they are emotionally attached to me to a large extent. I am the only son of my parents so I have to look after my mother and father as well. I am very much aware of my responsibility towards them. I have always put my family on top of my priority. My parents who did everything to fulfil almost all my requirements and desires, I am heavily indebted to them, and doing anything for them would be my achievement. They have always been influential to me and my attachment towards them is very strong. Apart from this, we have a property worth AUD amount which I have to look after. Apart from this, there are many social workers in Nepal who have been the inspiration to many. I also want to walk in the path they have shown to many people and work for the people’s welfare. To name some of the renowned social workers in Nepal are;

Anuradha Koirala has been awarded 38 national and international awards in recognition of her courageous acts and achievements furthering the cause of children’s and women’s rights.

Durga Ghimire is a senior social worker and a renowned human rights activist of Nepal. She has been actively involved in the field of Social work since 1975

Sarita Gurung is a philanthropist and social worker from Nepal who collects fund privately from facebook social network and donates to needy people

Himani Shah, Former Crown Princess of Nepal is the wife of the former heir apparent to the throne of Nepal, Crown Prince Paras who is also actively working for the welfare of needy people.  I want to do so much in this field with the knowledge I will gain in Australia. Doctors, engineers, and other professions are well known in Nepal but not social work. Some social workers themselves believe that Social work is just a discipline.  I want to make a change in the mentality of people and prove that this profession is also not less than other professions.
