“BACHELOR OF BUSINESS”

  Statement of Purpose (BIJ01KAR)

As a part of my endeavor to pursue my higher education in Australia, I am presenting Statement of Purpose (SOP) mentioning all the genuine and detailed information regarding my profile, academic record, family background, financial status, career plans, courses which provide you a clear overview. It’s my fortune that favors me to write Statement of Purpose for studying my preferred subject that is Bachelor of Business in College name.

Through this Statement of Purpose, I hope I will be able to illustrate the reasons for choosing Australia for my further study. Since I had decided on studying abroad, I carried out some inspection regarding possible destinations. After searching through the study destination that provides a degree in business, I preferred Australian education and study environment than choosing my own country or any other third destination as Australia provides a unique kind of education and a learning style that encourages one to be innovative, creative and think independently.

Introduction:
I am delighted to introduce myself as Applicant’s name, son of Mr. Father’s name and Mrs. Mother’s name and grandson of Mrs. Grand mother’s name, a native of Nepal, the permanent residents of Location name but temporarily living in Location name. I am blessed with a nuclear family of four members which includes my grandmother, my parents and me. My father works as a supervisor at a well-established hotel in Dubai. I am the only one child in the family. Though we are only four members we encourage, support and respect each other’s decisions. Qualities of high moral values, discipline, courage and being independent are inherited to me belonging to a family with good family background and supportive plus self-dependent nature of each family member. I have strong support from my family and they now want me to study in Australia and also willing to pay expenses of my abroad study as they are financially good. And I have decided to pursue my higher education in College name and the course which I have opted for is Bachelor of Business.

Academic Background:                                                                                                                                             As far as my academic profile is concerned, I have successfully completed my SEE (Secondary Education Examination) in year A.D with XX GPA. And I joined College name from year A.D to year A.D where I spent approximately 2 years with energetic, enthusiastic and hardworking teachers and friends. With the regular guidance and inspiration of my teachers, I was able to secure GPA XX in +2 (Management faculty) out of the overall GPA 4. I completed both educations from renowned institutions. My keen interest in the subject and relevant excellence in academics during my high school provided me the theoretical knowledge about business management. Further education is my dream so I appeared in the IELTS examination on year A.D, and scored an overall band score XX. Along with the IELTS preparation, I also researched abroad study, visited many consultancies and finally decided to study in Australia and applied for an offer letter. It took some time to arrange financial documents as well.

Reason to study Bachelor of Business:                                                                                                                              I am aware of the major areas of detail study such as accounting, finance, economics, business law, statistics, marketing, management, ethics and sustainability. Studying business has always been my passion. Considering the huge scope of the subject and high demand of professionals in Nepal, I decided to continue my further studies on this sector. Reason for not choosing Nepal:
After knowing that the international degree is globally recognized all around the world, I was interested to continue my further study overseas. First, I, along with my parents did research on some colleges providing the course of business studies in my own country. We explored institutions like St. Xavier’s, College of Applied Business, Ace Institute of Management, Global College of Management, The British College, Tribhuvan University and Kathmandu University that offer the courses in business studies, information technology, hospitality management, etc. But, most of them have large class sizes with limited practical resources in the classrooms, no internship under the course, limited seats, entrance exam requirements, etc. On top of this talking about tuition fees, it costs around NPR amount to NPR amount per annum for the bachelor’s degree. The theoretical knowledge is more focused in Nepal rather than practical exposure and gaining real workplace experience. The expertise and facilities offered in colleges and universities of Nepal are limited and they teach students with exam-oriented mindset rather than testing knowledge. Also, it takes 4 years to complete a bachelor’s in Nepal where I can complete the same in just 3 years from Australia. Being a management student, courses option are limited in Nepal. Courses like (Bachelor in Hospitality Management)BHM,(Bachelor in Information technology)BIT ,(Bachelor in Business Studies)BBS, etc. are suitable for me. But, I choose  BBS among those. The reason for not choosing BHM course is because of the lack of practical knowledge .Even if, the practical are done  they are of inferior quality that does not uplift  skills in hospitality field. In addition to this, scope in this field is not so good. Another alternative course for me is BIT. However, I do not have any computer background because of not having computer subject in +2 levels. Although few of the collages are providing IT course despite of the computer subject in +2, but I feel it would be hard for me in this course because of the insufficient skills in computer program. The colleges have poor infrastructure and lacks adequate and efficient human resource to provide quality education in Information Technology, which is a field of study demanding excellent infrastructure and skilled teachers. I possess few knowledge about the business course during my study which put me at ease for my further study. It is a common course for any student that has wide range of scope in any country. Anyone can get job starting range with mid-range remuneration. Also, in the Nepalese job markets, graduates from recognized foreign Colleges or Universities with international degrees are prioritized over the graduates from the home countries. Investing to study in Australia will help me to gain an international degree with the international level of the learning experience, skills, practices, and knowledge, which will be fruitful for me in the long run. Furthermore, being calculative and thinking of an investment point of view, what I believe is education is a lifelong investment that pays in the long run. This clearly suggested me to decide where I want to invest my time in education, acquiring quality education in Australia or follow outdated and theoretical based education in Nepal. Thus, without any doubt, I would choose Australia for my quality education and career prospective. Studying abroad will also provide me an opportunity to meet a student from different nations so that I can exchange culture and ideas with each other. I will also know the time management skills, will develop my personality. Moreover, the Australian degree has high value in my home country Nepal for job and salary point of view as well. Nepalese qualification is not globally competitive. So, I have decided to study abroad.

Reasons for choosing Australia:                                                                                                                                    Australia is a global education powerhouse with fantastic long-term opportunities. The infrastructure, facilities, teaching and networking experience in Australia is second to none. This is why studying in Australia has become popular. Moreover, the Australian government has been heavily involved in building a ‘truly internationalized’ education system that is driven by research to address the challenges of the future. Almost $200,000,000 per annum is invested by the Australian government purely on international scholarships. Additionally, the diverse range of courses offered by Australian Universities has resulted in Australia being the 3rd most popular destination for international students. Moreover, 7 of the Top 100 Universities in the World are in Australia and 5 out of the 30 best student cities in the World. Australia has quality of researched programs and impressive technology available for international students. It has a reputation for adopting new technologies at a faster rate than in other countries. It has already entered a new millennium with one of the highest rate of internet access in the world. Australian qualifications are recognized by employers and leading educational institutions in many countries around the world. The graduates of Australian universities have always grabbed global opportunities. Australia has the third-highest number of international students in the world after the UK and US despite having a population of only 23 million. Many Australian universities are ranked in the top 100 universities of the world and provide unique kinds of education so that students can be creative, innovative and think independently. Moreover, most of the courses and training undertaken by international students in Australia are covered by the Australian Qualification Framework (AQF). It is a system of learning which is authorized by the Australian government. It provides us an opportunity of Post Study Work (PSW) which allows students to gain skills, experience, and knowledge regarding their own field. This could be helpful for all students as they can utilize their leisure time and earn something for themselves. Apart from this, the Australian government, with an intention to have overseas students to have a safe, enjoyable and rewarding place to study, has ESOS framework and they include the Education Services for Overseas Student (ESOS) Act 2000.  This Australia’s laws promote quality education and consumer protection for overseas students. Similarly, the quality maintained under CRICOS ensures that international students receive the same standard of education as Australian students from other Universities and educational institutes. Australia also has a national regulatory and quality agency for higher education Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) which was established by the Australian Government to monitor the quality and regulate Colleges and University and non-university higher education providers against a set of standards developed by the independent Higher Education Standards Panel. The Health Scheme, Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) assist international students to cover hospital and medical cost during health emergencies. Australia also has Tuition Protection System (TPS) which protects the paid fees of international students.

Reason for not choosing other countries like USA, UK, Canada, Japan:
USA: USA is well known for its education system but due to entry requirement of the tests such as ACT, SAT I, SAT II in the most of the university like Stanford University, University of Michigan, Yale University and so on, it makes it more time consuming just to get the admissions.  The tuition fees in USA are comparatively higher than Australia. Regarding the quality of life, Australia has a better quality of life. Crime rates are lower in Australia compared to the US. States capital cities like Perth, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, are all in the top 10 most livable cities in the world. I have researched about the universities like Monroe College, Devry University, Saginaw Valley State University, University of New Haven, Abilene Christian University, and others for the business program.

UK: The first thing that discouraged me to choose the UK is because of the expensive tuition and living cost compared to Australia. The extremely cold climatic condition is quite unacceptable because I am from a pleasant climate with average summer and winter temperatures. The unstable international students’ policy and no Post Study Work (PSW) are some other factor which did not attract me to the UK. I have researched some universities like Cardiff Metropolitan University, the University of East London and Teesside University, Middlesex University and so on.

Canada: Canada is another most popular destination for international students because of its diverse variety of opportunities and experiences. It is also known for its vast expanses, multicultural cities, and natural beauty. But on the other hand tuition fee is the most expensive averaging around 42000 CAD (USD: 32,000). Furthermore, it is primarily very difficult to adjust in the Canadian climate since the temperature might fall down to -25 to -30 degrees which is extreme to cope as Nepal has a moderate climate.  Some of the universities and colleges that I researched are Douglas College, Humber College, and Western University and so on.

Other countries: In the case of Japan, I will definitely face language problems as the Japanese hardly speak English and learning the Japanese language will be very hard for me in a quick time. Australia provides me with wonderful opportunities and experiences, along with world-class education enabling me to meet my future aspirations. Courses offered by institutions in Australia are highly flexible and equipped with an international perspective.  I also researched some European countries such as Germany, Denmark, and Finland for further study but I found that language will be a problem as most of the European countries have their own language which is hard to learn where Australia is English speaking country. After doing deep research about different countries I ended up choosing Australia for my further education.

Reason for choosing Sydney:
Sydney is by far the most celebrated city in Australia and is home to many world-famous attractions. As 20% of Australia’s population has chosen Sydney as the place of their residence, it’s not hard to understand why the city has so much to offer. It is home to top universities in Australia with high-class transportation facilities. Staying in Sydney would help me to get exposure to all the skills that I would love to acquire from the rapidly developing city of the world. Furthermore, during my leisure time and vacations, Sydney Opera House, Bondi Beach, The Rocks, Sydney Harbor Bridge, Sydney Harbor, Paddy’s Markets, Darling Harbor, the Blue Mountains are the major attractions for me to spend time. Another reason why have I chosen Sydney is its temperate climate with warm summers and mild winters. Likewise, there are different museums, art galleries, sea air in a harbor cruise and adrenalin spiking activities like jet boating, big wave surfing, climbing the bridge or riding a roller coaster at Luna Park where we can relax at the weekends and holidays.

Reason to choose College name :
After deciding the country and city, with the thought of getting international degree from best institution, I went through multiple online searches, brochures, visiting the websites of high ranked colleges and universities, gathering reviews from my seniors, friends, and relatives who are already in Australia, analyzing all important things and facts that should be well considered, I choose College name to pursue my further study. It was the hardest part for me to find the best educational institute from a country like Australia where the world’s famous and reputed educational institutes are located and were best as the degree provided by them is internationally recognized. As I have to choose of them, I found College name as the best colleges for my subject because of its affordable tuition fees, duration, good student supports, modern study environment, flexible structure of courses and more personalized lectures so that teachers can focus on every student while teaching. It is one of the highly reputed colleges with a long history of practical and industry-based teaching. College name provides quality, affordable education to us so that we can gain knowledge and skills to succeed, whether it is in creative industries or managerial occupations. Through the provision of industry-relevant, innovative, quality education courses, College name aims to address the learning needs of domestic and international students and, in turn, the future needs of the industries in which they will be employed. It offers small classes that use a range of contemporary teaching methods including the use of practical case studies, simulations and applied projects. All courses are registered with the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). All programs are designed to lead to successful and fulfilling careers in related fields, both in Australia and in the global marketplace.

Moreover, it has quite an affordable fee structure compared to other Australian Colleges and Universities for the Bachelor of Business program. The tuition fee of College name is AUD amount only per year whereas other Colleges and Universities fee structure are around AUD amount at Federation University, AUD amount at La Trobe University, and so on. I also compared the tuition fees, course structure, specialization with Kent Institute, King’s Own Institute of Australia. During my research, I found the above-mentioned colleges and universities are quite expensive than College name.In universities due to a large number of students, we cannot get proper care and attention from professors and lecturers but at College name, I will get much attention from the professors. College name has a long history of compared to KENT and KOI and has got a higher student satisfaction rate. College name has good student support services and does not compromise in the quality of education. In the KOI, there are very limited international students but most of the students in the class are from Nepal, India, China etc but College name had got very good student mix-up. I also found that the international student support system is excellent in this institute. Due to a large number of students in a class in universities, I cannot get personal attention during my study time. But in College name, they are providing strong support and care for the international students and have strong student welfare services and counseling services so that we can feel a homely environment.

The campus, located in the central business district of Australia’s largest city, Sydney was established to deliver high-quality degree programs to domestic and international students. The entry requirement for this college is quite flexible in comparison to other universities and colleges. It is at the hub of transport and world-class amenities with restaurants and facilities to suit every budget and taste. The campus, located at location name will be accessible via trains, metro, etc. So, I can easily move between campuses, stay place. The campus facilities, I believe, will help me to achieve my goal. On-campus internet accessibility, well-equipped labs, and studios at College name will help me achieve my ride for my passion. Also, I compared the course structure; elective units under the course, class size, previous students’ feedback about the College name and other above-mentioned Colleges and Universities and finally satisfied with the College name to start my course. I also checked the accreditation body of the course with University and College where I found the accreditation body is the same for both and this course is accredited by the Business Council of Australia (BCA). So, I would like to take the same degree at an affordable cost from College name. I also checked the video from YouTube about College name e (Youtube link) while doing research and I also checked the comments over there. I also explore the Facebook page of each university and College name as well where I watched some videos, studied the content published by College name, checked the photos uploaded on different occasions. I contacted some friends over Facebook and asked about the Australian education system and their general understanding of these above-mentioned Universities and College name where they recommended me other Universities are expensive ones compared to College name and suggested College name for me. Also, I received counseling from my counselor about these other Universities and College name

My Future Career Plans:
After the completion of my study I will emerge as a skilled man with strong attitudes, approach and understandings and a liable person for the next step of my study. I have planned to complete my Bachelor of Business course in Australia with international education which provides me to fulfill desires and practical knowledge to build up my skill to continue a technological career that my home country (Nepal) lacks. I will genuinely be back in my motherland and will apply for the job with Australian skills, knowledge, and degree after finishing my studies having some experience of the course. Having such high demand in my country, after completion of my bachelor of the business program, I will have various prospective career opportunities in the potential fields of employment including financial accounting, management accounting, banking management accounting. I will first prefer to work in the business and administration department of the business organization like in the post of administrator, departmental head, corporate manager, human resource adviser as well as I can also apply for mid-level of managerial post in the various corporate houses such as Hulas Automobiles, Chaudhary Groups, Surya Nepal and different financial and banking institutions like Standard Chartered Bank, Nabil Bank, NSBI Bank, or in any other hotels. I will start my job form the initial level job for 1 year and after that, I can be promoted for a higher level next year where I will also get a high salary. So, I will work 2 to 3 years accordingly and will get experience and savings. While working, I will have the opportunity to know how the organization works and run. I will understand the managerial duties and responsibilities. Working in those organizations for years, I will get a higher salary compared to local degree holders. This will also shortly recover my study investment. After working in those companies and having some working experience, I have planned to open my own business in the hospitality and tourism sector in the future. As everybody knows Nepal is a Tourism country. Million people from different countries come to visit Nepal. The travel & tourism industry makes up 9.8 % of global GDP, and it’s still growing. Responsible for one out of every eleven jobs worldwide, the industry is the world’s largest employer according to the World Tourism Organization (WTO). Every day, a new idea is hatched, big investment firms sign off on the designs of a five-star luxury resort. Having doubled in numbers over the past twenty years, the tourist population is set to expand two-fold yet again over the next twenty. The increasing numbers are only a reflection of a budding middle class. In this growing scenario, I am confident that after having some working experience in a related field, I can run my own business in the hospitality and tourism sector. Nepal has god gifted natural beauty from Himalayan range to green forest, from rafting to trekking and jungle safari. And top of these people and tourists love to enjoy natural beauty with good hospitality services with local food and I know after having education and skills in the tourism, hospitality and management field, I can open a good resort in any part of Nepal which is my big career plan.
