Statement of Purpose

“BACHELOR OF BUSINESS (ACCOUNTING)

Source: KIEC Student (GIR15SAN)

I have always believed that the path to enlightenment is the “path of knowledge”. My strong belief is that greater things can be achieved through perseverance. An open mind and a determined approach are the basis for my aspiration to pursue my studies. In recent years, my native country Nepal has adapted to the trend of globalization and transformed from a low-tech manufacturing base into a technology-based economy. Growing up in such a dynamic economy has given me a strong interest in taking part in the business world of the future. Introducing myself, this is Applicant Name basically from Nagarjun-I0, Bhimdhunga, Kathmandu, Nepal. I have completed S.L.C examination from Shree Navin Jyoti English School, Bhimdhunga with XX% in the year 2XXX A.D. Similarly, I got XX% in my intermediate level studying in Ed-mark academy, Kalanki in the year 2XXX A.D. I now want to Join King’s Own institute for business in accounting course as it not only is my preferred course, but I have been studying account as an elective subject in the senior grades during school i.e. 9 and 10. Also, I chose Accounts in both 11th and 12th grade. Due to this, I think I will have benefits in my further study. After +2, I wanted to work utilizing the spare time so, I started working as an accountant in Bhimdhunga Agriculture cooperative Ltd thinking it will somehow help me  in my study further but as I continued working, I began enjoying my work, not because of anything else but I finally got a chance to use my knowledge of accounts practically. For Bachelor study, there are some good universities like Kathmandu University, Pokhara University etc. These universities offer the course that I want to study but it is very difficult to get admission to those universities due to the limited number of seats. And another reason for not choosing my home country is that the education system which is still lingering in the old decade’s practices as the teaching approach is more theoretical than a practical one. As it is a complex subject and needs as many resources as possible, the resources are limited here and I myself am more interested in practical learning as it sets in my mind quickly rather than theory. Thus, I couldn’t think of any colleges so far as I didn’t get the one with my need of having more practical study, then the idea of looking for colleges abroad came in my mind and I decided to join IELTS and I gave exam in 29th September and waiting for the result.

For other options, I could have chosen other countries like the USA, UK, and Canada and so on but USA requires more tests like SAT, it would take more time for the preparation and cost of studies in the USA is higher than in Australia. Also, a bachelor’s degree in the USA is for 4 Years. Secondly, UK currency is higher than Australia currency which makes the UK more expensive. I didn’t choose Canada because of its cold climatic condition. Doing research about the education system in Australia, I got ideas of ESOS act, according to which international students could get major information relating to their enrolment, fees in colleges, about different agents and institutions, orientation access, responsibilities of the institutions they have chosen, responsibilities of students, and so on. I also did some research on tuition protection service (TPS) overviewed all the schedules and got to know about several obligations mentioned. Moreover, research on Post work service (PSW) acknowledged me the obligations of institutions to ensure that they actually have access to employment post-study, preferably in their area of study. These factors made me choose Australia as my path for further education. Not only this, Australia is recognized as a country that offers world-class education. The quality of education is important, but another significant aspect of choosing the location or university is student life. Australia, in fact, houses six of the forty best student cities in the world. A survey in 2015 even revealed that 81% of international student respondents are satisfied or very satisfied with living in Australia. This is ‘not surprising, as Australia is considered to be the ninth happiest country in the world and is often referred to as the lucky country as well. Australia offers an educational experience that makes a real difference. It provides a unique kind of education and a learning style that encourages one to be innovative, creative and think independently. Australia has a reputation for adopting new technologies at a faster rate than in most other countries and its approach to technical education is now recognized as among the best and most innovative country in the world. Actually, my cousin sister is also now studying in Federation University in Australia and when she tells me about the education system in there, I become more and more fascinating.  Moreover, Universities in Australia offers a wide range of course as per the need and requirements of the students providing quality education composed of both theoretical as well as practical aspects. Likewise, it is also ranked as one of the happiest and wealthiest countries in the world with the world’s l2th largest economy. In 2015, Australia had the world’s ninth-highest per capita income. It ranks highly in many international comparisons of national performance, such as quality of education, life, health, economic freedom and the protection of civil liberties. Plus, it also happens to be one of my favourite countries because of its peaceful environment with stable government policy, reputed international education, high living standards, multicultural environment, favourable weather, affordable tuitions fee and more. Besides these, graduates from Australia are very successful in finding jobs and hold prominent positions worldwide as per various reports. Australia has become a world-class destination due to its safe and secure environment.

For my keen interest in exploring a new place, Sydney will be the best place to live in during my stay for the course of Bachelors in accounting. Bachelor of Commerce, major in Accounting, provides worldwide career portability due to the rigour and contemporary nature of the course which is valued internationally. This is particularly important as uniform accounting standards are now being adopted globally. The KOI Bachelor of Commerce major in Accounting is accredited by industry peak bodies such as CPA Australia (CPAA) and Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA) which provides graduates with an opportunity to apply their skills around the world. The Bachelor of Commerce, major in Accounting, provides a detailed study of the accounting discipline which includes various theories and models of accounting, the roles and traditions of accounting, internal and external financial reporting, management and financial accounting, auditing, taxation, regulatory compliance, international accounting standards and an awareness of ethical issues. This course will help me to demonstrate a broad and coherent knowledge of the accountancy discipline in the global context, It Possess an up-to-date body of specialist accounting knowledge both theoretical and technical , to be able to apply International Accounting Standards, Australian Accounting Standards, Australian Accounting Standards and Conceptual Framework and have the ability to remain up-to-date with changes in regulations and reporting requirements,  to analyse and evaluate the financial position and performance of an organization through the examination of financial and non-financial data and to evaluate the financial position of an organization through the examination of financial accounts or financial statements and non-financial data. After completion of my Bachelor degree in accounting from KOI, I believe that I can be competent in sound financial decision making. I believe after the Bachelor of Commerce (accounting) achievement; I would be able to grab the opportunity within and outside the organization. This degree can put me in a better position, better pay and recognition. I have seen many platforms in the area of accounting, stockbroker, financial advisor, tax consultant, compliance manager, forensic accounting and auditor in my century and help to develop more professional. In Nepal there are many organizations like commercial banks (Nabil Bank Ltd, Nepal SBI Bank, Standard Chartered Bank Ltd,), Multinational companies and Manufacturing Companies (Chaudhary Groups, Himalayan Snax), Airlines Companies (Buddha Airlines, Nepal Airlines Corporation), government departments, INGO’s and donor agencies and other corporate houses which are looking for skilled and qualified manpower for accounting. It is my goal to work in such reputed organizations in a higher position with better pay ranging from NRS 45,000 to NRS 60,000 per month according to the nature of organizations and recognition. I feel that a bachelor degree from KOI will definitely make me more confident and it is the right place for me to achieve my career goal.

My first reason to choose KOI is it is one of the fastest-growing institutions in Australia. It offers industrially focused and recognized degrees in the field of business and management. The expert professors, high-tech labs, well-equipped library, modern buildings and small classroom are the major attractions of this institution. KOI also has good connections with national and multinational companies. This supports for gaining the latest industrial skills. KOI is approved by the Australian Universities Quality Agency for student-focused practice in education. This institution ranks well in teaching and support facilities for students and is well-rated for overall education experience. KOI is located centrally which can be easily accessed by public transport. I also found that the Bachelor of Business (Accounting) course much economical in KOI. KOI assigns mentors who help the students in their academic difficulties which may turn out to be a good guidance for the excellent performance with free additional English tuition course. Besides its infrastructure, multicultural environment, library facilities and the course of KOI, which is accredited by relevant professional bodies? KOI is a CPA certified institution and provided Bachelor of Business (Accounting) degree is accredited by CPA Australia, CAANZ – Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, and IPA- Institute of Public Accountants so graduates can apply their skills throughout the world. Moreover, it offers Excellence Support, also called a Mentorship program, a special program where the seniors assist the juniors in academic performance and it is free of cost service. Having different choices in my mind, I choose King’s Own Institute in association with to continue my further studies. From my research, I come to know this institute is a pioneer of business education ranked 10th in the world for its enviable quality of University. This tertiary level, industry-based institution echoes Sydney’s upbeat and engaged ethos, it is a Vibrant, progressive and adorable Institute all around Australia. This Institute offers over 400 programs from short courses to degrees and beyond. When I visited the website of this institute, I found that their graduate has rated it with 5 stars for both student support and overall satisfaction. Another reason for choosing this university is because of its size of classrooms and its fee structure. The classrooms here are of small size which gives equal learning and interacting opportunities to each and every student. But in the context of larger universities like UTS, VU each class consists of 80 to 100 students which make learning and teaching environment chaotic. The fee structure is affordable whichis$13000 in a year. This fee is lower than other universities like VU, Charles Darwin University, and Charles Strut University and so on. The same I have found the course is very affordable with AUD $ 18,032 annual tuition fee comparing to the annual fees of Southern Cross University which have AUD$ 20,560 and Charles Strut University has AUD$ 24OOO for the same course. In an age demanding invention and digital development, KOI graduates can immediately demonstrate competence and fluency with technology for early success.

My family is well settled in Nepal. Their happiness equals to my happiness. They have compromised their dreams for my achievements. My parents strongly believe in parenthood, that they want me to achieve the height of success and reach the summit. What I am today is due to the support and love of my family members. My father has good earning and my mother always wants to see me in apex. My parents are happy to sponsor for my study and my living expenses. For my study and living expenses, my father and mother will sponsor me. I have full support of my parents and they are financially sound to cover all the expenses including living cost in Australia. They are fully aware of the cost of my study for 3 years i.e. tuition fees and living expenses.  For accommodation, I have few friends living in Sydney. I will make the necessary arrangements after receiving the offer.

I am aware about the student visa conditions. Some of them are:

  •  I need to maintain minimum of 80% of attendance
  • I am allowed to work 40 hours per fortnight on a part-time basis.
  • I need to clear 50% of subjects in each term and I cannot change the university for 6 months upon enrolment.
  • I need to maintain the health insurance until I remain in Australia.
  • I must notify to Institute within 7 days if I change the address of contact details.

Finally, I would like to express my gratitude for taking out time to analyse my documents and for considering me a prospective candidate. I am eager to be a student of King’s Own Institute (KOI), Sydney campus and I am fully confident that completing this Master’s Program at KOI will prove as the most important academic goal of my life.

Thank you!

Sincerely yours
