“MASTER OF PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTING”

Source: KIEC Student  (GH21SAU)

I m Applicant Name Born and Brought up in very simple and Sober Family.
To become Professional is my Main aim and I believe “Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.” – Malcolm Forbes.

I’m applying for Master of Professional Accounting From CQU Central Queensland University, Australia as I wanted to do my further education on international Level so that I get rewarding career opportunities.

I choose to continue my further studies in accounting as I Wanted to be professional in this stream of my choice. What I believe accounting is a system meant for measuring business activities, processing of information into reports and making the findings available to decision-makers. The documents, which communicate these findings about the performance of an organisation in monetary terms, are called financial statements. Usually, accounting is understood as the Language of Business. However, a business may have a lot of aspects which may not be of financial nature. As such, a better way to understand accounting could be to call it The Language of Financial Decisions. The better the understanding of the language, the better is the management of financial aspects of living. Many aspects of our lives are based on accounting, personal financial planning, investments, income-tax, loans, etc. We have different roles to perform in life-the role of a student, of a family head, of a manager, of an investor, etc. The knowledge of accounting is an added advantage in performing different roles. However, we shall limit our scope of discussion to a business organisation and the various financial aspects of such an organisation.

 When we focus our thoughts on a business organisation, many questions (is our business profitable, should a new product line be introduced, are the sales sufficient, etc.) strike our mind. To answer questions of such nature, we need to have information generated through the accounting process. The people who take policy decisions and frame business plans use such information. All business organisations work in an ever-changing dynamic environment. Any new program of the organisation or of its competitor will affect the business. Accounting serves as an effective tool for measuring the financial pulse rate of the company. It is a continuous cycle of measurement of results and reporting of results to decision makers.

More information about me is conveyed in my SOP below.

WHY NOT NEPAL FOR MY FURTHER STUDIES:

At present in Nepal, the principal body of the higher education system is one university –Tribhuvan University, which consists of 65 “constituent campuses” and 130 associated campuses”, enrolling more than 99 percent of the total higher education students in the whole country. The constituent campuses are public funded, accounting for about 80 percent of the enrollment. The associated campuses are privately funded, accounting for about 20 percent of the total enrollment. In 1986, four very small campuses were separated from the Tribhuvan University to form a new university -Mahendra University, which has only one very specific field of study — Sanskrit Studies enrolling only about 1000 students, accounting for less than 1 percent of the total higher education enrollment. One private University — Kathmandu University was established in 1992 with about 700 students enrolled in Science, Management and Engineering Schools. Therefore, functionally, the current higher education system in Nepal is Tribhuvan University System, with a total of 195 campuses including both constituent and affiliated campuses. The King is the Chancellor of the University, and honorary and symbolic position. The Minister of Education is the Pro-Chancellor, and has the major responsibilities for general education, but seldom interfere in University affairs. The university is governed by the University Council, which consists of about 85 members, functioning as the board of trustees or board of regents of universities in some other countries. The daily operation of the university system is managed by the Vice-Chancellor, assisted by the Rector, the chief academic officer, and the Registrar, the chief administrative officer. For a long time, the system has not been managed very effectively. Recently, there was a change of university leadership. The new Vice-chancellor and his staff have tried very hard to improve the managerial effectiveness of the system. Though some positive changes have started, the current university system is still suffering from a legacy of managerial problems. The major ones are:

Over-Centralized Decision-Making and Control

The administrative system of Nepalese higher education is over-centralized and has become virtually ossified. The central administration has absolute authority over almost every aspect of higher education activities in the country, including
(a) financing the system as mentioned above;
(b) control the operation of the system;
(c) determining the curriculum and instructional objectives;
(d) setting goals by examinations for students’ learning for intermediate stages and for the overall system completion;
(e) control on the content of teaching including course offerings, student course assignment rules, and syllabus for courses of study;
(f) textbook development and distribution and
(g) controlling the hiring, firing and promoting of all the employees of the university system.
The local governments have been given no responsibility and authority for higher education at all. This has been confirmed by all the campus chiefs. All decisions are made at the central level, even a decision for hiring or firing a janitor. The chief executives of the university campuses, appointed by the central administration, are actually serving as arms of the central administration to insure that the campuses operated on the track and maintain minimum standards set by the center. The districts and cities and local communities have little to do with the operation of higher education.

This over-centralized decision making and control on the higher education system has posed extremely heavy managerial pressure on the central administration for the direct daily operation of the campuses, thus preventing it from doing better or the more crucial functions such as macro policy formulations, overall coordination of higher educational development in responding to the labour market needs, improving national curriculum for better learning of students, and creating and maintaining a better institutional environment for more efficient and more effective, and more equitable provision higher education services to the whole country. Over-centralization has prevented local participation in higher education decision-making and in promoting educational development embodying consideration of the varied socio-economic conditions of different regions and specific local needs, thus the higher education system lacks flexibility and these are Factors because of which I’m not doing my Further Studies from my home Country Nepal.

WHY AUSTRALIA FOR MY FURTHER STUDIES:

While searching for the countries, I realized it was not an easy task to select the right country, where I will pursue my higher studies. There are few good and safe countries I could choose to study Like: UK, USA, New Zealand and Canada. But I have chosen Australia for my further studies after considering many factors. I did not choose UK because the pound rate is very high and education is extremely expensive. I also came to know many international students are still not able to find jobs within the given time frame and in result they are unable to find International practical work experience. USA required many additional entry requirements to get admissions and it can take a lot of time. I did not prefer Canada as weather Conditions are not suitable in winters .Further on I did not prefer New Zealand as Cost of living in New Zealand is more expensive than to Australia. So Finally Australia has become my 1st choice to get higher education .I choose Australia as the esteemed & reputed Universities & Colleges have become a favourite destination for students worldwide. By far, it is the most technologically advanced country around the globe. Innovations and Research are the additional components which make it a Leader in Academic field. Acknowledging all the positivity’s of the continent I decided to pursue my higher education in Australia. Australia’s qualifications are valued as credible both nationally and internationally. Moreover, Australia also offers direct pathway to study and work. The public transportation system is very efficient, and international students are easily able to get to where they need to go, whether by bus, train, bike, or plane. Australia has the fastest growing economy in the world and the economic boon has created well-paid career opportunities for both graduates and post graduate students.

The most important is Australian institution offer a variety of courses and degrees, so international student can easily find the fields and Educational Institutes that are appropriate for them Because Australia is forefront of new technology and innovation students will acquire quality education, which is foremost concern of any student. The curriculum is updated accordance to present context. There are rules and regulation which facilitate international student in Australia. Some of them are education service for overseas students (ESOS) Act, national code of practice for providers of education and training to overseas students. Commonwealth register of institutions and courses for overseas student (CRICOS) and tuition protection service (TPS). These rules and system makes Australia stand out from rest of the world when considering the country and environment where we study. The learning and study process happens in multi-cultural and global level, which enables me to work in any part of the world when I complete my studies.

Moreover when most of the people think of Australia, they see wide open spaces of outback bush, kangaroos, koalas and clean air and water. However, Australia has so much more to offer than just that! Many international students are choosing to study in Australia because of its friendly, laid-back nature, excellent education system, and high standard of living. Growing in Australia is currently the third most popular destination for international students in the English-speaking world, behind the United States and the UK. This system is carefully regulated by the Australian government in order to maintain the high standards of education associated with the country. Living expenses and tuition costs are considerably lower in Australia than they are in the United States and United Kingdom. Work in Australia Students visiting the country is allowed to work up to 20 hours per week while they are studying in Australia. This is a great opportunity for students who want to earn money to help with living expenses during their stay, and for students who want to gain work experience in their field of interest while they study. So that is why I decided to do my further study from Australia.

WHY CENTRAL QUEENSLAND UNIVERSITY FOR MY FURTHER EDUCATION:

The main aim of this University is not only to provide quality education but also to prepare students for all the challenges in future. This University has grown rapidly into a quality excellent institute with quality students’ satisfaction and internationally recognition. Students from this University are the best in the world as their outstanding achievements have been recognized throughout world when we talk about passed out alumni’s.

Moreover During my research when I opened different social networking area  of this University (CQU) like face book, instagram, YouTube, twitter and indeed I was looking at the comments and feedback of people around the world and I was so much impressed by the pictures of infrastructure, fees structure, well qualified Faculties. Testimonials of present and passed out students. Moreover the administration department is highly skilled that they take care of each and every activities going in different campus. The Positive energy which I generated after reading complete encyclopaedia of this university made me contented and finally I decided to continue my further education from CQU. Moreover If I see fees comparison of my course for same duration with other Educational Institute in Sydney (Location) it is comparatively low for example fees of my course is AUD$5760.00 where as fees in University of New South Wales is AUD$554, 40 and in University of Sydney it is AUD$ 7200.00 and in Macquarie University it is AUD$589, 84.So I found fees Structure more affordable. So Cost of benefit analysis is a systematic approach to estimating the strengths and weaknesses of alternatives. It is used to determine options that provide the best approach to achieve benefits while preserving saving in terms of all Short term, midterm and long term Goals so Fees is main parameter on which we can achieve it. So that is why I choose Central Queensland University for my further Education.
